Hope for Laila & Her Family

Laila Al-Haj is a six-year-old girl from Gaza. She is small, bright, and full of imagination, with curly black hair, big brown eyes, and a smile that still shines despite the hardships around her. Laila spends her days playing with her rag doll, chasing butterflies, and drawing colorful chalk pictures. Like many children, she dreams of becoming a teacher one day so she can help other kids learn and laugh.

But Laila’s childhood has been overshadowed by hunger and loss. Her family’s home was badly damaged during recent airstrikes: the walls collapsed, the roof was shattered, and today they live in a single corner of the ruins, covered only by plastic sheets and scraps of fabric. With no stable income, very little food, and no secure shelter, the Al-Haj family faces uncertainty every single day.

Laila’s father, Ahmed, is 38 years old. Once a dedicated history teacher, he lost his job when the school was closed. Now he takes whatever daily work he can find in the market, but opportunities are rare and income is almost nothing. Her mother, Fatma, used to sew clothes for neighbors to help support the family. Today she spends all her time trying to keep her children safe and fed, making meals out of the little flour, rice, or old vegetables she can find.

Laila’s older brother, Youssef (12), tries to help his father by carrying baskets in the market. He loves books and dreams of becoming an engineer one day, but for now, his priority is helping keep food on the table. Laila’s sister, Samia (9), is energetic and full of life. She sings, dances, and invents funny songs to keep her younger sister smiling, even on the hungriest nights.

Despite their struggles, the family continues to hold on to hope. Ahmed and Fatma dream of sending their children back to school and rebuilding their home. The children dream of a future beyond hunger and fear. But right now, their immediate need is survival.

Why we are raising funds This campaign was created to provide urgent humanitarian support to Laila and her family. Donations will go toward:

Food parcels: rice, flour, cooking oil, and canned goods to sustain the family in the coming months. Clean water and basic medical supplies to ensure the children remain safe and healthy. Shelter materials: tarps, blankets, and essential items to protect the family from harsh weather. Longer-term support to help the family rebuild their damaged home and return the children to school when conditions allow. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a direct difference in the lives of Laila and her siblings. Together, we can bring them not only food and shelter, but also dignity and hope.

Why this matters Behind every statistic about Gaza are real people — children like Laila, families like the Al-Haj’s — who are trying to survive and hold onto their dreams. By supporting this campaign, you are not just donating money. You are giving a little girl the chance to smile, the chance to eat, and the chance to grow up with hope.

Please consider joining us in supporting Laila and her family. Your generosity will help rebuild lives, one meal and one act of kindness at a time
